Basic CPT Coding Training

REQUIREMENTS – participants must:
have completed training in medical terminology and anatomy & physiology;
have a current copy of the American Medical Association’s Physician’s Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) code book during each Audio Camp;
devote time to complete ALL exercises in the comprehensive handout/workbook (an Answer Key is provided).
OBJECTIVE:
Each program will provide individuals with the official CPT coding guidelines for the most commonly performed outpatient surgery procedures – giving these individuals the ability to code the high volume procedures found in most facilities. Exercises/Case Studies based on actual outpatient surgery operative reports will be used to build the participants’ coding skills. An Answer Key will be provided for all exercises/Case Studies. EACH COMPREHENSIVE HANDOUT IS ALSO A CODING WORKBOOK CONTAINING NUMEROUS EXERCISES!

Lolita M. Jones, RHIA, CCS, is the Principal of a consulting practice that provides contract coding for ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs) throughout the country. Her firm also specializes in hospital outpatient and ambulatory surgery center coding audits and training. In 2000, she launched her web-based distance learning coding programs at

In 2001, Ms. Jones served as the editor and co-writer of the e-book titled Reimbursement Methodologies for Healthcare Services (published by the American Health Information Management Association/AHIMA in Chicago, IL). Ms. Jones writes a monthly coding column for both the “Briefings on APCs” newsletter (Opus Communications, Marblehead, MA) and the “Outpatient Surgery Magazine” (Herrin Publishing Partners, Paoli, PA). In 2002, she wrote the book The Modifier Clinic: A Guide to Hospital Outpatient Issues (published by HCPro, Marblehead, MA). In 2003, she published a book titled HIPAA Impact on Medical Coding: ICD-9-CM, CPT, HCPCS, Dental, and Drugs. Ms. Jones has over 20 years of experience in publishing, training, and auditing for the hospital outpatient and freestanding ambulatory surgery center (ASC) markets. She has earned both the Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) and Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) credentials from the AHIMA.
